OUR CHARITIES

Our adventure is being supported by The Vodafone Foundation to help promote and support one of the key pillars of Vodafone’s purpose; our Planet. We are preparing to take on the Atlantic Challenge to raise funds for the Vodafone Foundation’s #YourPlanet campaign, in support of two conservation charities, The Blue Marine Foundation, and Tusk. Public fundraising donations will be match funded by the Vodafone Foundation.

VODAFONE FOUNDATION

Blue Marine Foundation

Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE) is a charity dedicated to restoring the ocean to health by addressing overfishing, one of the world’s biggest environmental problems.

The ocean is the world’s largest carbon sink: by combating overfishing, we can help life in the ocean perform its vital function of stabilising the Earth’s climate. BLUE works using a combination of top-down intervention to improve governance of our seas, and bottom-up project delivery to help local communities who are at the front line of ocean conservation.

BLUE is filling a niche in the NGO world, enabling marine conservation to happen fast and effectively. BLUE is well connected and determined to seize opportunities as they arise and get things done, as well as forge new partnerships and challenge the status quo.

Tusk

Tusk’s mission is to amplify the impact of progressive conservation initiatives across Africa.

The charity has earned a reputation for providing a highly efficient solution for funding wildlife conservation programmes. They partner with the most effective local organisations, investing in their in-depth knowledge and expertise. By supporting and nurturing their conservation programmes, they help accelerate growth from an innovative idea to a scalable solution.

For over 30 years, they have helped pioneer an impressive range of successful conservation initiatives across more than 20 countries, increasing vital protection for over 70 million hectares of land and more than 40 different threatened species. But the threat to Africa’s unique natural heritage remains real and more urgent than ever.
